Santa Fe Audubon's guided tour of the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo
February 2020
Twenty-one curious people arrived for Santa Fe Audubon's guided tour of the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo on a brisk February Saturday morning. Although some outdoor animals were hunkered down and hiding, others were available for close encounters. Adventurous attendees could touch a baby box turtle, a corn snake, a Ball python and/or a three-year-old alligator. Among other things, participants learned how the zoo contributes to the conservation of endangered species and works to enrich the lives of its non-human residents as it teaches students to value the diversity of species and to care for many different types of animals.
